Corrections, not counselling
Use this form for editorial errors, missing official sources, or questions about the site. If you or someone else needs support now, do not wait for email.
Alcohol.net.au is an independent information site. We do not sell alcohol, take bookings, or provide medical, legal, or counselling advice by email.
What this inbox is for
The contact form and the address [email protected] exist so readers can fix the public record on this website. Typical notes we can act on include a stale citation, a broken outbound link to an official Australian page, a typo in a worked standard-drink example, or a suggestion that we quote a primary source we have not linked yet.
We will not diagnose a health condition, interpret a blood alcohol reading, comment on a charge, recommend a clinic, or tell you whether you are “safe” to drive. Those questions belong to a clinician, a road authority, or a recognised support service — not an editorial inbox that may be read hours later.
If your message is about alcohol use that is affecting health, work, relationships, or safety, close this page and open support resources. In a life-threatening emergency call 000. Lifeline is 13 11 14. healthdirect is 1800 022 222. Confirm those numbers on the official sites before you rely on them.
What we can correct
Alcohol.net.au summarises publicly available Australian guidance. The source of truth is always the official page if our wording and that page differ. Useful correction emails name the URL on this site, the official URL you want us to check, and the sentence that looks wrong. We do not need your medical history to fix a citation.
Numbers we stand behind are the ones the National Health and Medical Research Council publishes: an Australian standard drink contains 10 grams of pure alcohol; healthy adults are advised to drink no more than 10 standard drinks a week and no more than 4 on any one day; people under 18 should not drink; women who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy should not drink. We will not invent a fourth guideline, a “best drink” ranking, or a household timetable for clearing alcohol from the body.
Typical ABV ranges on drink-type pages are educational. If a product in your hand does not match a range we quoted, the product label wins — that is already the rule on every style page. A single supermarket can is not a reason for us to rewrite a teaching range into a specification.
Official pages, not us
If you came here looking for personal advice, the faster path is an official Australian source. We keep a short list in the footer and on the resources page so you do not have to wait for a reply.
- NHMRC — Alcohol guidelines
- Australian Government — Alcohol
- Alcohol and Drug Foundation
- healthdirect — Alcohol
- DrinkWise
- Lifeline (13 11 14)
DrinkWise publishes consumer information about standard drinks and drinking choices. healthdirect publishes health information and a nurse-on-call number. NHMRC publishes the guidelines this site quotes. None of those organisations operate this inbox, and emailing us is not the same as contacting them.
We also cannot change a venue’s glass size, a state’s drink-driving limit, or a bottle shop’s trading hours. Those are local facts. If a page on this site implied a national pint size or a single blood alcohol rule for every licence, that would be an error — tell us, and we will point the page back to the caveat that already lives on the FAQ.
Privacy and tone
Send only what we need to fix a page. Do not include other people’s names, medical details, or photos of labels that show a barcode you would rather keep private. We are not a treatment service and we do not open a clinical file.
Guest contributions, if we ever accept one, remain the copyright of their authors unless otherwise agreed. Unsolicited product pitches, tasting samples, and affiliate schemes are not useful here. This site does not rank drinks and does not take a cut of a sale.
The fleet copyright and trademark disclaimer in the footer applies to this page as it does to every public URL: trademarks remain the property of their owners, and the content is general information only.
You can also email [email protected]. For the measurement and the official adult numbers, start at standard drinks or NHMRC guidelines.
